Tale of the Turf
Frank Broyles Field at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium was originally installed in 2009 under the direction of then head coach, Bobby Petrino. Petrino’s style of high-octane offense lent itself to the fast track provided by the turf field. The Razorbacks enjoyed much success during their near decade on this turf, recording a school record tying 11-win season, going to 6 bowl games during that time span, and sending over 30 players to the NFL draft. Notable players include Ryan Mallet, DJ Williams, Mitch Petrus, and Hunter Henry amongst many others.
The field itself is named after former Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Frank Broyles. During his tenure as head coach, Frank Broyles won 7 Southwest Conference titles and the 1964 National Championship. His legacy lives on in the form of the Broyles Award, given to the top assistant coaches in the country, and in the College Football Hall of Fame, into which he was inducted in 1983.
